Closing arguments made in Gustine bar slaying case
Jury deliberations have begun in the trial of the last defendant accused in the Gustine bar stabbing death of Bill James. Ruben Silva Jr., 23, of Los Angeles is charged with murder and participating in a criminal street gang in the Nov. 6, 2009, slaying of James at the Gustine Club.
The prosecution claims Silva was one of as many as 10 members of the Mongols biker gang who entered the 431 Fifth St. bar and killed James, 33, after briefly exchanging words. Silva's attorney, on the other hand, said there's little physical evidence implicating his client, who maintains his innocence.
